Although music was his first love he always had a fascination with film. He began studying with the successful theater and film coach Ruth Kulerman four years ago. After many lessons and plenty of encouragement from Ruth he decided to start testing the waters. Early in 2007 he went out and started auditioning. The response was overwhelming and he landed 17 roles in 5 months. Not a bad first time out of the gate. It wasn’t prime time or the big screen, but it gave him enough confidence to continue to work hard and he knew he had something to offer.
He's had films in the Asian American Film Festival, New Film Maker Festival, The Latin Film Festival of New York, Bogotá Int. Film Festival, Market Alcalá de Henaresand and last year the film En Route won first place at the Milford Connecticut Film Festival, in which he was the lead. John was also nominated for Best Actor in the Festival Internacional In Vitro Visual in Columbia for the film Good Bye.
In February of 2010 John signed a non-exclusive deal with Prestige Management Group and is currently working on getting a TV deal and making more film.
John would like to thank everyone that has supported him through out this journey. Because of this support the future is looking brighter and great things are on the horizon.

Directors Comments
"Our shoot went excellently. John showed up with the right attitude and preparation to get the job done quickly and, more importantly, with precision and professionalism. Even though he was juggling several other projects during the course of our shoot, he showed great dedication to my film. I can't really call it "my film" though because John's creative input was equally important to the realization of my initial vision. His strong performance was only further strengthened by the laid-back, down to earth attitude he brought to the set, creating an atmosphere that was as humorous as it was productive. I highly recommended John to any filmmakers looking for not only a talented up-and-coming actor, but also simply an extremely easy person to work with."

‘Your Turn’
John Soto is the man! He is focused, aware, and ready to perform. His true strength however, is his ability to listen. The man simply does not miss a beat. Take care John. You truly are the man.
